Deep Waters Devotional

-by Shelia Renee-

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Good Morning Friends,

I had the great honor of attending one of my daughters friends baby shower this weekend. While I was there, we played one of the fun games that are a part of ever shower setting... and to my great surprise, I actually won one of the prizes! When I looked in the basket of rewards to choose from there were different types of candies, some small snack containers and a few other items...but the one that immediately caught my eye was a beautiful white mug with a heart in the bottom. On the side of the mug it said "You are a Blessing". Oh my heart was so excited! That cup was perfect and meant for me :) ...I always say "many blessings" at the end of my emails or letters and sometimes my post. It's just my way of saying," I hope your life is blessed". A simple but heart felt way for me to let those I am in contact with know that I care...and so does the Lord.

On the back side of the cup it read,

"For I have had great joy and comfort and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of God’s people have been refreshed through you."

Philemon 1:7

This so warmed my heart...it is amazing to me how the Lord reaches out to you sometimes in the most unexpected ways. When I started my online boutique, I of course was hoping it would be a consistent form of income (in an inconsistent Covid world)...with an opportunity to share the Love of God in several different ways. Although I am still learning by trial and error what works and doesn't work on the boutique side (and this can be disappointing at times), I have absolutely fell in love with the Devotional side. It means so much to me to be able to reach out and encourage someone in their time of need. To somehow be an extension of our Father here on Earth. I have had so many people reach out to me and thank me for the encouragement and words that they needed to hear...and oh how that warms my heart.

It is hard at times to realize just how blessed you are...when things seem to be caving in around you...especially in the world we live in today. Things surely have been so uncertain for us over the last few years, many changes and definitely struggles but through it all my GREATEST lesson has been to lean more on God and to truly TRUST Him....and let me tell you...that last part is really hard when you are a little bit of a control freak. It's really hard at times to give that fear over to Him and REST in the fact the HE has this...But by really learning to do that better...we have had the most peaceful and stress free year... during one of the most fearful and uncertain times...and I owe it all to learning to TRUST more. For like the opening verse I posted read...Trust...and He will provide.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans."

Proverbs 16:3

"And my God will meet all your needs

according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:19

"Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord."

Proverbs 16:20

So today I reach out to that person who has had a struggle with the uncertainties of the future. Whatever your battle may be...if you will commit yourself to the Lord and ask Him to help you make the right decisions ...and then rest in the fact that He has your back...you will make it through this... Stronger and Wiser. For me it has always been an internal peace that lets me know I am following His path and when I'm not there is a HUGE unseen red flag that is waving... It's taken my husband a long time to realize that it is a real thing :) ...but for others, God may speak to you in different ways....through His word or His music (He has spoken that way to me many times as well). It could be through a friend or even stranger who has a message for you...it could even be through a cup you win at a baby shower (I needed that encouragement). Whichever way God chooses to reach out to you, be prepared to listen. He is always there...always listening...and ALWAYS wanting to be your champion.

Always remember that you are loved and you are not alone.

from my heart to yours,
