Deep Waters Devotional

“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of the Deep Waters”
2 Samuel 22:17

February 16, 2021
Good Morning Friends,
I hope you are all warm and toasty this beautiful morning. When I woke up today and the temperature was -11 my first thought was, "This Southern Girl has Never been in this cold of weather!". What do you do in this situation? Then my next thought was ...
"Be still and Know that I am God."
Psalms 46:10

It's days like today that you need to take a moment and remember who is in control. To try and find the beauty in the storm. Boy, that's hard sometimes. When I was younger, my sweet 2nd momma (my best friends mom) used to tell me this..."When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." We've all heard this through our lives but it's so true and it has stayed with me. It's really hard sometime to focus on the good when things are falling down around us...but it can be done and boy does it change what you're going through.
We were with a few of our grandkids this past weekend and we were talking with them about finding the good in things and the 9 year old spoke up and said, "What about 2020! There was no good in that."
My husband and I both looked at each other and I told him that though there were many, many things that went wrong in 2020 that we had found much to be thankful for. First of all, our life was much less rushed and we were able to enjoy our home and just the company of each other without it being work related. We were able to spend quality time with family (when not in quarantine)…and our stress level was so much better than our normal work life...and even though there was loss and uncertainty we trusted that God would provide... and every day He did. I'm so thankful for that. Through a really difficult year...I learned to trust God more...and my life is better because of it.
I know each of you are going through your own storm and sometimes it's really hard to find that peace and strength to be positive...but you can. Calm the storm that is rushing through your mind and heart and
"Be still and Know that I am God". Rest your mind and heart in His arms and know that you can find the good in what you are going through. It may take time but stay focused on finding the good...and you will find it.
So whether you are dealing with the impact of a real storm or the aftermath of an emotional one...know you are not alone and there is someone bigger than you and I who is there to cradle you and give you strength. Look for the positive and you will find it. You are loved. Always Remember that you are Loved.
“ For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39

from my heart to yours,
Shelia Renee
