Deep Waters Devotional

--with Shelia Renee--

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Ephesians 2:10

Good Morning Friends,

I normally try to do my devotional earlier in the week but this week has just gotten away from me. However I have thought about sharing with you all week long and wanting to make sure that I reach the right person this week...and I continued to hear this voice in my heart that said "purpose". So many of us search for that answer. What is my purpose? So if you've been asking yourself that question...this is for you (and me).

Our purpose in life is the very meaning of our existence and without knowing this we often suffer trying to find our own significance. We fall prey to the illusion that our lives don't matter and we have no connection or impact on the world around us. But that is not true. You are here for a purpose. No one who has ever walked this Earth was ever like you...you are unique in every way and God had a purpose for you before you were ever born. Your mission on this Earth is to find that purpose.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

So while you are searching for that purpose, rest in the comfort that your Heavenly Father already knows...and if you will continue to search after Him...He will lead you there.

I believe the hardest thing for each of us is expecting our purpose to be some huge movement that makes national headlines. Yes, God has chosen a few to walk that path...but if you only knew how heavy their load was...you would think twice about wanting that purpose.

Most of us have a purpose that is much closer to home...Especially in the world we are living today. There has never been a time more in need of God's love and peace than the time we are in now. Your purpose begins on the inside and as you over flow with the love of the Lord it will radiate to all those around you.

"For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps".

1 Peter 2:21

"Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ."

1 Corinthians 11:1

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:1-2

"You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you."

John 13:13-15

The Lord left us a beautiful example of our main purpose on this Earth and that is to be a reflection of Him... showing the world the love of the Lord, the understanding of the Lord, and the patience of the Lord.

“But the fruit of the Spirits is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23.

The truth is, in our own strength, we really can’t always be these things. We need help. We need Him. That is why we need to pour into ourselves the presence of God through His word, His music, and fellowship of like minded people. There will be a time when you will be called to step out of that circle of comfort and be His" Fruit of the Spirit" for a world that is hurting and in need. So make sure that your cup is full at all times. You have the beautiful purpose of being our Saviors feet and hands and heart and soul....of being a light on a hillside on a dark night. What a great honor...to be an extension of our risen King. Carry your candle for all to see it...and most importantly help someone who needs it to light their own. What a great purpose :)

Always remember that you are loved and you are not alone.

from my heart to yours,
